Start a Selection from within an Object
To make a more precise selection on an object, start making the selection from within an object. This can be done by creating the selection while pressing the "Alt" key. Otherwise, a pick behavior will be applied on the object.

Store Selections on the Selection Manager
Tired of reconstructing selections for future actions or projects? PhotoImpact's new Selection Manager lets you store selections, just in case you might need to use them again. Right-click on the active selection and select "Store Selection." The selection will then appear in the Selection Manager in the Access Panel.

Stamp Along Edges of a Selection
Surrounding a selection with the Stamp Tool's assortment of objects is easy. With the Stamp Tool active, select "Paint on Edge" (Effect > Creative > Paint on Edge) or press [Shift + P] and watch the objects appear along the selection marquee.

Turn a Selection On and Off
If you are not satisfied with your current selection, press the [Space Bar] to remove it. If you want to undo the removal of the selection, just press the [Space Bar] again. With objects, deselect and re-select with the [Return] key.

Preview Effects on Images with the EasyPalette
You can view how an effect will look on your image without applying the effect first. You can do this by opening the EasyPalette and clicking "Use an image, selected area or object as thumbnails." Your image replaces the default thumbnail for each available effect and allows you to see how the effects look on your image, instantly.

Lasso Selection Tool Options
Use the lasso selection tool to select an area of any shape. Now, you can fine-tune the selections you made using the Lasso Tool. With the Lasso Tool active, double-click on the selection you made with the Lasso Tool. After double-clicking the selection, "nodes" will appear, you can then drag these nodes to adjust your selection.
